Company expands engineering and design focus to accelerate usability and market adoption
San Carlos, CA, March 26, 2019 - Continuing the expansion of Bluescape’s focus as the premier virtual collaboration platform, the company announced today two new members of the product development leadership team. Rupen Chanda has joined the company as vice president of engineering, and Josh Ulm as vice president of UX design. The two will execute on the company’s strategic initiatives around product design and engineering for Bluescape’s secure, digital workspace solution.
“In order to develop great software you need great leadership at every level. As we grow, we must also develop leadership so that we can continue to build something special,” said Demian Entrekin, Bluescape chief technology officer. “We’re focused on expanding our open platform in new ways and innovating our user experience so that Bluescape is both powerful and easy to use. Rupen and Josh will drive product development efforts to accelerate our growth. Their wealth of experience in engineering and design, combined with their understanding of what customers need, will help organizations optimize their collaboration workflows.”
Rupen Chanda most recently comes from Blackberry, where he drove direction for the company’s IoT platform, and led its security initiatives as vice president of engineering. Prior to Blackberry, Chanda spent a successful career at Adobe, where he received the moniker, “The Godfather of Flash,” a platform he created that transformed cloud software applications at a crucial time in the history of the Internet. He was also the co-founding engineer at Middlesoft, which was acquired by Macromedia/Adobe in 2005.
Chanda is the primary or co-author of 48 technology patents and has been awarded the prestigious Adobe Founders Award. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from the University of Madras in Chennai, India.
“It’s an exciting time to be at Bluescape,” said Chanda. “The company is poised to become the platform that helps companies bring together the many technologies making up their CaaS stack. Our virtual workspace brings together multiple tools and content into one transformative immersive experience; bridging the virtual world to the physical world for collaborative work.”
Josh Ulm has been instrumental in driving advancements as an executive leader in the design tech area, developing world-class software, hardware, and services for consumers and enterprises. Most recently, he was group vice president of design at Oracle, where he redesigned, redeveloped and repositioned the Oracle Cloud PaaS and IaaS offerings for their 2018 relaunch.
Prior to his work at Oracle, he was the senior director of experience design at Adobe, bringing to market Adobe’s multi-cloud products and services. Ulm was also the global head of user experience at Vodafone.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Film Production from Syracuse University’s renowned Newhouse School of Communication.
“In my career, everything I've worked on has pointed to an imminent transformation in the way people collaborate, communicate and create together. Bluescape just so happened to be building the platform I had been dreaming about,” said Ulm. “I'm thrilled to lead the design of these experiences and to help stimulate new ways for people to work together.”
